Cavriglia

Cavriglia to ciche miasteczko na szczycie wzgórza górującego nad Valdarno, na skraju regionu Chianti. Leży z dala od turystycznego szlaku, ale ma duży wybór usług i atrakcji. Historia Cavriglia sięga czasów etruskich, ale miasto rozwinęło się bardziej dopiero w czasach rzymskich, co widać na przykładzie Pieve di San Giovanni Battista. Miasto stanowiło ważny punkt na drodze rzymskiej łączącej dolinę Valdarno z doliną Greve in Chianti. W średniowieczu głównym grodem obronnym w okolicy był Montaio Castello, zamek zrównany z ziemią w 1252 roku podczas walk między stronnictwami gwelfów i gibelinów, a następnie odbudowany i używany jako punkt obronny Florencji. Na początku XIX wieku różne małe przysiółki w okolicy połączyły się tworząc miasto Cavriglia.
